Saturday 24th April – Observer Training Day ( Open to Qualified and Senior Observers only)
Purpose:
To provide refresher training for the Qualified Observers and reassess individual skill levels as a group, and therefore ensuring that we are all providing a consistent high level of feedback and guidance to the associates.
The outcome that we hope to reach is that we can prepare / confirm that the group’s Qualified Observers are to the standard expected by the Senior Observer Test.
Format of the event:
This will be a half day event followed by lunch. It will be led by the Senior Observers, with them acting as the associate, for the majority of the on road training time. There is an assessment form to be compiled on the Qualified Observer at the end of the session. This will provide valuable info to the Observers and is a record that the group can use to provide evidence of continual training and development.
Route and Timings:
Arrive at the Cotton Mill for 09:00 to start with breakfast / coffee ( 09:30 for those who want to skip the coffee etc)
Senior Observer to pair up with the Observer (s)
Brief the route, explain the purpose of the event and describe the roles etc.
Observer Intro Chat etc
On the road for 10:00am with S/O (acting as Associate) to lead a challenging route ultimately reaching the Clatteringshaws Visitor Centre in the Galloway Forest Park (approx 55 miles by shortest route). During the run the S/O should stop and give feedback at a few points en-route. When reaching Clatteringshaws (aiming to be there at 12:30) there will be the ability to have a coffee / tea break and change the pairings to get a second opinion. The final section should be to conduct an assessment (again S/O acting as Associate) and the route should be chosen to ensure arrival at the Lunch stop in Newton Stewart (venue TBD) no later than 2pm.
Lunch, debrief and completion of paperwork, plus collect fuel contribution.
Finally:
Decide on the route home and enjoy !!!
